Poem 01 of 2024
Our most critical moments in life
aren't the 'here and now' ones;
they are the ones in hibernation,
nestled in the embryonic day-after.
It is when the dust settles,
the din thins out and the lights dim
for the day
that it is time to review
the immediate past.
In the thick of the action,
amidst the hustle and bustle,
our eyes and ears are focused
on the tasks on hand
and deadlines looming large;
when emotions are still baking
in the oven of burning ego,
it is too early to take stock
of faltered steps and
hurried indiscretions.
The embers of anger,
the bruises of hurt
and the heaviness of fatigue
need time to normalize.
As we wake up to
the virgin morning
of the new dawn,
leaving behind the conflicts
and frustrations endured,
the refreshed Sun
whispers to us
that time is ripe for self-critique,
and be battle-ready.
